YASER SHAW'S BIO As head designer and co-owner of Shaw Brothers, Yaser Shaw has been designing collections for ten years that present a unique synthesis of both traditional and contemporary style - offering numerous possibilities in elegant adornment for any age and occasion. Yaser's collections are inspired by the ongoing visual intersection of his extensive travels and the poetically beautiful landscape of his Kashmiri origins. Raised in the creative atmosphere of a designing family, Yaser cultivated his extraordinary sensibility and expertise alongside the artisans employed within the family workshops. Here amongst the true upholders of generations-old traditions & techniques, his deep respect and understanding for the craft and craft persons were born. Amongst the sifters, spinners, weavers & embroiderers, Yaser learned of the meticulous poetic formulas required for each heirloom textile. And so his path was carved: to maintain the integrity of the tradition and support the dignity & local wisdom of the craft community while adjusting society's evolving notions of beauty to current standards. Yaser now works with various workshops around India, traveling several months of the year to innovate new fabrics and weaves, oversee production and experiment with new printing techniques.
